I’ve seen lots of agency and freelance colleagues board the NFT hype train in the last few months. And it’s great to see more of a mainstream interest in crypto – even if it’s cryptokitties, bored apes, memecoins and rug pulls that are acting as the gateway.
My hope is that more and more people see – among many other things – the potential for financial revolution inherent in the blockchain, Bitcoin protocol and more specifically in the world’s hardest currency: bitcoin.
I know I try to. And have tried for many years.
- I run a node to verify my transactions and contribute to decentralising the blockchain.
- I encourage and incentivise everyone who books me – clients and agencies – to pay me in bitcoin. I offer substantial discounts to make the idea even more enticing.
- I run a BTCPay Server implementation to make the payment process as painlessly simple as possible.
I’d like to encourage my newfound crypto colleagues to do the same.
If you’re a freelancer, incentivise the agencies that book you to pay you in bitcoin. So many of them talk the talk when it comes to NFTs, the Metaverse, Web 3.0 and whatnot – but will they walk the walk when it comes to actually using the payment infrastructure for… well… you know… payments? Give them a nudge in the right direction and force their hands (or expose their hypocrisy). Either way you’ll be contributing towards mainstream adoption.
To help you get started, I’m opening up the BTCPay Server that I run at bergberger.duckdns.org:43962 for new user registrations. So if you want to begin accepting bitcoin payments from your clients but don’t want to deal with running nodes, servers, etc., or are weary of using anonymous implementations, you’re free to use mine.
And who knows – before long you might decide to run your own. Link up with our node when you do.
